Description

After ages, a digital work! A Pokémon comic!

This one refers to the editions Diamond/Pearl and ... Platinum? (the third one anyway) Going on safari in these games, you can throw mud at pokémon, either to make them aggressive (and therefore easier to catch, if I remember that correctly) or to make them run away. Aidan once met that Bibarel and wanted to scare it away. Anyhow, after 20 turns of throwing mud it still just watched. What a dumb Pokémon!

I tried to do this one a bit differently from my other comics, starting off with traditional inking (I'll totally keep that habit). Then I tried colouring it with a touchpad ... soon thereafter I bought myself a Bamboo to finish this. It's almost better than my Intuos (and that's kinda frustrating since I paid about nine times as much for the latter ... but the Intuos is too big for my small apartment ... almost makes me not miss it). I guess a trained eye can still see differences between the colouring parts, but that's fine for me. I still need to practice a lot and I think this is my best digital work so far. And I also have to practice comic storytelling ... balancing between text and pictures, yet make the plot comprehensible.

So, pleeeaaaase gimme feedback! I could really need that.

Done with ink, colouring in Photoshop CS 3.

The left arm of the last panel has a serious case of Popeye the Sailor syndrome, but apart from that I gotta say you're getting a lot better with hands. I feel your stylized approach to the face makes it hard for you to make the character emote properly. Apart from that, I think the comic needed one or two panels more to both make it clear that Bibarel isn't leaving even tho Aidan wants it to, and to maybe give more room for some deadpan humor.

Here's one link that helped me tremendously to understand facial expressions, especially when stylized: [link]

I do think your coloring is best when it has to utilize a lot of colors to get a good end result, like the swamp water and the background sky, maybe adding a slight fog to it would add to that as well. I'm also impressed by your layouting beyond all else, the panels flow pretty well, only one that's a bit ambiguous would be the staredown panel in that it's unclear if it's panel 5 or 6, which doesn't really matter as far as the "story" goes, but still, it's something to point out.
